Acts 5:29

“But Peter and the other apostles answered and said “ We ought to obey God rather than men.”

Peter, after being let out of prison by angels, goes onto trial and makes one of the boldest statements in this chapter, “ God is in control, He indeed is sovereign over men” No matter where we are, whatever our position is, God should be first. Peter says this after witnessing Ananias and his wife die rite in front of him, after testing the Spirits. Peter knows exactly what can happen to those who test and disobey the Lord. Matthew 28:18 is a great example of the power given to Jesus “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.” When authority commands what God has forbidden, or forbids what God has commanded, we as children of God must obey the author of all authority, God himself.
There is no authority apart from God. Moses and Pharaoh are a great example in Exodus. In order for there to be a respect of “the authority of God,” there needs to be a fear of the Lord.  Moses had a fear of the Lord. Pharaoh did not. Moses would be able to boldly say and follow Peter. Pharaoh had a problem submitting and surrendering everything that He had, because He did not fear the Lord. And that's the problem with the world today. We hold everything in retrospect to what God commands. Men over God. That's why we don't grow, why we don't respect God, and why we don't fear God.
That's why when He speaks, we doubt. We have placed Him somewhere else. Hes supposed to be first, yet He seems to be the third Person i run to when i need help.

APPLICATION:

I'M tired of putting God secondary to everything. He put me first in all things. I will be waking up and going to bed making sure i have read and meditated on this verse.
