2 Corinthians 13:11

“Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.”

Because God is immutable He always acts like Himself. One of the first things that popped out to me while reading this verse is “ And the God of love…” which for many Christians can be a common misconception. As A.W Tozer puts it “the words ‘God is Love’ means that love is an essential attribute of God. Love is something true of God but it is not God.” What Paul is asking us to do is not impossible, yet we make it seem so strenuous, because we try to Love in our nature, yet when we go to the Father, we make it seem like its all He is. Love, like the Father has loved, and continues to love us. Its through this same love that we experience His grace, mercy and compassion.
Paul is asking us to do, only what Jesus displayed while being here on earth. If it were not done by Him, it would not be asked of us. To be complete and to be of good comfort is to know that Christ has risen and as a body we are unified. Christ had left but had left us His spirit, “the comforter” and we ought to as a body comforting one another. Christ lived in oneness with the Father. Coming down, not to break the law but to fulfill the law. We too, should always be in constant fellowship, to always know the plans of our dear siblings in Christ. Christ lived in perfect harmony not with everyone He came in contact with, but with those who received Him. And He still lived a life of love, humility and meekness. Not everyone will receive or like what we have to say, but that doesnt mean we let that disrupt the peace the Lord has given us.

All these things Jesus requires of us and more. A life that does show I am filled, and being completed. A mind that does not worry, but remains peaceful despite any circumstance.
