I, John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 1:9
John, being exiled to the island of Patmos, because he would not stop preaching the good news, let's us know that he is our brother, he can relate to us throughout tribulations because he knows exactly what it Is to trial and tribulate. But don't give up! The kingdom of God produces patience and Perserverance that comes from Jesus, and in this patience, something God blesses us with...His word. It no longer becomes words on pages, they become tangible in the physical and spiritual world.
While on the island of Patmos John would receive the whole entitity of the book of revelation and he would be astonished! He wouldn't be the only one to see the kingdom of God at such a raw perspective, requiring reverence, surrender, and wholeness. There was Moses, Enoch, Isaiah, and Ezekiel. This isnt something God just gives to you. It's something God sees you perservere through. Ezekiel 3:1, “son of man, eat what you find, eat this scroll, and go speak to the house of Israel.” Revelation 10:9 “And he said to me, take it and eat it, it will make your stomach bitter but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth. “  The eating representing, the taking in of the word of God. Yes there will be things you won't be joyful about, but you will rejoice over when the time comes.
John wept on the island of patmos, but the Lord would overwhelm, and bless Him, by showing Him his inheritance before he even got there. How awesome is that? One way or another, we're either on the island of patmos or on our way there. Will it be for persecution, or for pride?  Will we eat the scroll that he has offered us? Would we let the Lord reveal himself in such a manner that our very first words would be so awe struck, they would so humbly say Hosanna, and our last words Amen.
Knowing that the journey isn't ending soon,
I want to be a living breathing testimony of Christ. Today I willwrite out my testimony. Not wanting to forget what he has done for me.
