“Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things He suffered.”

The unknown author of Hebrews lets us know that although Christ being the Son of God, suffered for His fathers will  He learned obedience. Obedience is compliance with someones wishes, or orders, or acknowledgment of their authority. Have you ever questioned why should the Son learn obedience and suffer for it? Christ would come completely surrendered to His fathers will, yet would get beaten because He wasnt being obedient on “earthly” terms.
Obedience is a powerful thing. Romans 16:26 says “ but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God so that all the gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith.” Obedience requires faith. We do not know the suffering of Christ until we are called to be obedient in a time of disobedience. This disobedience comes naturally to us but the willingness to want to be obedient when the father calls us, gets washed out. We NOW know what it was like for Jesus(not to only to hear HIs fathers voice, but obey His fathers voice)
What kind of God would we serve if relating to Him were impossible, or Him to us? One thing ive come to realize is im not perfect in my obedience, but being perfected in my suffering. Obedience is that tail end of the leaf. You dont get there by mere chance, nor just by beleiving. James would tell us that “Faith without works is dead.” Obedience, is one in many ways Jesus relates to us. He too,had someone He had to submit to. Its something that shapes and refines us. Look at Sodom and Gomorrah, they are a perfect example of disobedience. The key to obedience is being refined, and getting through the suffering.
God never told me my days would be easy and without suffering. Obedience is something strictly learned and refined. Today i will write this verse out on my hand to remind myself, that obedience requires suffering, and Jesus is that example.
